As many of you know, my heart belongs to Charleston, South Carolina.
I was lucky enough to experience the Holy City while working for Abercrombie and Fitch as a District Manager and it quickly became my home away from home. At the time I was living in Charlotte, and Charleston was just a short drive south. But when my boss from A&F had told me my district was being re-aligned and I’d be taking on the tiny store in North Charleston, I thought it was going to be an inconvenience traveling to and from on a weekly basis. Little did I know this would be the place I would continually be challenged professionally, grow personally and fall in love with the southern culture. Even after transitioning jobs I knew one thing remained the same, I didn’t need an excuse to take the three-hour trip south.
When Chris and I made the decision to move to Houston a few years ago, I agreed under one condition: I must make it back to visit Charleston at least once a year. He and I often talk about my dreams of getting married deep in the city’s southern charm, so I was excited to head out east for a long weekend at The Restoration Hotel a few weekends ago.
