Hi friends, happy Monday! I trust you all had a great weekend! It was the first time I’ve been home in a few weeks, so I enjoyed relaxing with Chris and Becks while trying to knock out some items on my lengthy to-do list. Anyways, so excited you are back for a few more days of my New York Fashion Week recap, I hope you caught up on all the posts. But if not, there’s still time!
If you have been following along, you are either interested in traveling to the Big Apple for Fashion Week, or curious in what happens behind the scenes. Hopefully I’ve been able to answer all your questions and give you some insight. So I’d like to take the opportunity to tell you to be fearless. In a world where we are constantly fueld by the fear of “what ifs” and the unknown, this is a great chance for me to tell you to be fearless in the pursuit of your dreams, whether its to attend next year or to introduce yourself to your favorite blogger crush! Now is as good of a time as any. Chances are very high that you will encounter others in similar sitations, which will give you an opportunity to connect one on one and grow individually. But let me remind you, not everyone is who they ‘post’ to be in person. I say that because one of the things I was looking forward to this trip, was connecting in person with those bloggers I worked with over the last year. As I mentioned before, I have been blessed with the opportunity to virtually connect with over 500 bloggers and shop owners this past year through hosting giveaways. When I found out that several of those girls, along with some other’s that inspire me daily through their Insta feeds and blogs, were attending NYFW, I made a mental note of who I had to introduce myself to. I won’t mention any names, but there were too many people that I walked away disappointed from. Either they weren’t personable, came across as very standoffish or had a sense of arrogance that I couldn’t handle. I’d like to think I’m a very easy person to communicate with, and a pretty good judge of character, but man…was I dissapointed. They weren’t at all what they ‘post’ to be via social media. But on the other hand, there were a handful of women I met that were just as fun and encouraging in person as they appear on the internet! And those are the individuals that made me so excited to come home and get back to work.
Please keep in mind, everyone has their off days. There is always a chance that I caught someone at a bad time or off their game. But with that being said, I think its a great time to tell you how important it is for YOU to always be the best version of your self via the internet and social settings. Whether you’re attending a large event as a guest, our corresponding to someone via email, your interaction is vital to your brands success. You don’t ever want to be that person that is viewed as not nice or friendly. Don’t be that girl.
Tuesday was the last full day in the city, so we wrapped up a few meetings which included a visit to the Gumuchian offices! This beautiful family including Anita Gumuchian and her two daughters, design every piece for their collections. From the selection of diamonds to the manufacturing in their New York offices, these women do it all! Aftewards, we did some shopping on Madison Ave like true tourists. Seriously wishing this bag made it home with me. I opted to change into a comfy romper for the day of exploring!
