Happy Weekend loves! I hope you’ve started your holiday plans by now and are enjoying time with friends and family. After spending the morning at the studio, I wanted to share with you how I kickstart many of my days, in a rare Saturday post.
When moving to Houston, I knew I wanted to continue to develop a healthy lifestyle, which included cardio and different workouts. Being new to the city, I set out to try different classes which included yoga, pilates, and TRX. Before I knew it, I was falling in love with the daily challenges and growing stronger as time progressed! I tried both Pure Barre and Bar Method, and while each of them had their advantages, Pure Barre stole my heart. I took my first class on New Years Day and walked away exhausted and out of breath! So when the opportunity came up for me to be a teacher at a new studio that was opening up, I couldn’t say no. Fast forward to 7 months later, I’m actively sharing my passion with the city of Houston, while encouraging them to be a healthier and happier version of themselves.
We all have our own insecurities. For some its the act of comparing ourselves to others, or the way we will look and feel on the inside and out. Life brings each of us our own set of challenges, and as we get older it becomes increasingly difficult to adhere to a healthier lifestyle. It’s a choice we have to make every single day, but getting started is the hardest part. Personally, I tend to compare my fitness journey to others and lack confidence in how my body looks in workout gear. So, here’s me taking the plunge and letting it all out there!
If there is one thing I’ve learned over the last two years of blogging, is that Social Media can be used for good and bad. I love being able to connect with people all across the world while sharing my love for style, beauty and travel. However, there is always going to be that person that doesn’t like my content, or feels brave behind a keyboard and voices their not-so-nice comments. So baring every imperfection in spandex or a bathing suit is not my idea of fun! However, wanting to diversify my content has brought me expanding my wings and jumping into the unknown. I can’t share my fitness related posts without styling, right?
My favorite workout pieces are both fashionable and functional. Since you can find me at the studio full time, I gravitate towards athleisure style, that way I can go from the barre to running errands effortlessly. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing with you what I’m currently loving and trends I’m trying! Up first, this look and a 3 day juice cleanse from Juice From the Raw.
If you’ve seen my Instagram account, I refer to myself as a french fry enthusiast! I have the same eating habits as a 5 year old. We’re talking hamburgers, pb & j sandwiches and juice boxes. So I knew attempting a 3 day juice cleanse was going to take a lot of discipline and commitment, but once my boyfriend said “you can’t do it,” I knew I had no choice but to prove him wrong! I shared my experience on Snapchat (username: afoxe01), and while I felt less bloated and leaner, I was constantly struggling to find the energy to get through the day. Some of my wonderful Snapchat friends shared with me that while working out during a juice cleanse, it’s important to include a small protein and healthy fat. So, in the future I will definitely be doing some additional research to increase my energy levels while cleansing. However I am happy to announce that I didn’t cheat one single time while on the cleanse and that itself is a miracle!
