Find your perfect base. The first step in achieving any kind of look, is finding the perfect product for your skin type. If your skin is oily or the weather near you is hot and humid, go for an oil- free product. If you’re looking for minimal coverage during the warm summer months, a tinted moisturizer gives you both SPF and minimal coverage, without the worry of it melting away throughout the day. It’s important to only choose a heavy foundation if your skin warrants it. Match a shade to your skin tone by applying it to the back of your hand or chest and allowing it to absorb for a few minutes, don’t be afraid to use more than one to achieve a color that is closest to your complexion and never apply foundation to un-moisturized skin. I’m currently loving the Urban Decay Naked Skin because it’s lightweight for this Houston weather, without loosing any coverage. Here’s a few other favorites:
Shape and definite your brows. As silly as it sounds, nothing makes me feel more confident than a ‘good brow day.’ Even if I’m just going to the studio, I’ll shape and define my brows just to make myself feel more ‘put together,’ ignore the fact that I probably didn’t shower or forgot to put deodarnt on… don’t judge, you’ve done it too! I’ve recently started using IT Cosmetics Brow Power Pencil and I’m in love! Again, I remind you that I’m not a beauty expert, nor can offer any tips or tricks! I start to shape and define my brows by outlining their shape and then fill in the middle where needed. The Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel comes in handy to blend and keep the hair locked in place!
Give your cheeks some color. The IT Cosmetics CC+ Radiance Ombre Blush gives you that effortlessly natural rosiness that’s perfect for a summer day. This is a great shade that goes with almost every beauty look and definitely a good investment piece for your beauty kit. I’m also loving the NARS Mini Blush & Bronzer Duo, which is the perfect size (and color!) for your summer travel kit!
Give your skin a radiant finish. Short and simple, you won’t find me contouring anytime soon. I’ll leave that technique to the pro’s. When going for a ‘fresh face,’ less is more. The MAC Mineralize Skinfinish is perfect for a sheer and luminous glow above the cheekbones and outside eyes!
Bye Bye Under- Eyes. Newsflash: If you apply your foundation first, you’ll find that you don’t need to use as much concealer, thus you won’t have to replenish as fast. If you end up applying your concealer first, you will end up removing the majority of it while applying your foundation! Technique may vary depending on the coverage you’re needing. The IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye has great coverage and anti-aging ingredients!
Pucker Up. Add your favorite gloss or lipstick to compliment your mood. Be bold! Don’t be afraid to try a new color. Picking the right shade to fit your skin and lips undertone’s, as well as your style, can really transform your entire look! Keep in mind, the majority of lipsticks don’t bleed nowaday’s, so liner’s aren’t a necessity! I’m currently loving Clinique’s Play With Pop colors!
TA-DA! A fresh face that can be created in just a few minutes and perfect for summer! I hope you find this guide easy and informative the next time you’re looking to create a natural look or want to try a few new products.
