It’s that time of year again! The streets of New York are flooded with the sights and sounds of designers, celebrities, and the world’s most fashionable gals. Being in the city of my third season of #NYFW has brought me back to life! After several days of checking out the Spring/ Summer 2017 collections from my favorite brands, I’m ready to share my travels, give you a behind the scenes look into what it’s like to attend as a blogger, and a peek at some of the fashion trends you’ll see popping up for next season. So let’s start, shall we? Here’s what I packed for this season:
Let’s face it, racing between shows and dodging city traffic is no easy task in 4 inch heels and will most certainly leave you cursing before lunch time. Believe me, I learned that the hard way during my first season of #NYFW. As I got wiser, I began shopping for shoe options that were both fashionable, yet functional, while still providing me comfort during the long days on my feet and added an occasional chic sneaker. This year was all about Rebecca Minkoff, Kate Spade and the classic adidas that have made a comeback! Here’s a quick look at my lineup:

PRO TIP: a block heels (like this pair) are much easier to walk in for an extended period of time!
Adding a statement handbag or clutch can really elevate your look with just one quick change. Wearing a statement piece (like this or this) gives you the opportunity to define your own style and stand out as an individual, without being too overwhelming. It’s unique, interesting, and eye-catching, which is perfect for the #NYFW Street Style Scene! Classics, like this example, will never go out of style. So take advantage of your scene during #NYFW and step it up a notch with some of these stand out pieces I found at ASOS and NORDSTROM:

Last season’s NYFW shows were all about fall 2016 beauty trends. We saw bold, dark glamour, with smoky eyes and plum-stained lips on the models as they made their way down the runway. Since most of my curated outfits were fall related, I embarked on switching up my morning routine and included this bold lip; perfect as the seasons change and kept my lips moisturized and glamorous all day long! You can anticipate cool pony tails, elegant nail art, electric eyes and endless summer skin this spring/ summer.

PRO TIP: when packing, opt for long lasting make-up items, you won’t always have time to refresh!
Attending #NYFW is an amazing experience, so why not take advantage of the opportunity to try new things? If you have followed me long enough you know that my style tends to change with my mood. I’ll go from playful and girly one month to edgy and bold the next. #NYFW is the time and place for you to step out of your comfort zone and try new trends and styles. For a blogger who is trying to get discovered, this is a great way to stand out amongst the countless others attending the shows and crowding the streets of NYC. Here’s some of my favorite looks:

Last month I shared my love for the Henri Bendel travel luggage after my trip to Charleston, SC, so I wanted to re-vist my favorites again. I’ve gone through my share of luggage through the years, and recently picked up The West 57th Wheelie and Briefcase in this gorgeous crocodile embossed leather! It’s so chic and versitile, making traveling to #NYFW so much more convenient.

As many of you know, my heart belongs to Charleston, South Carolina.
I was lucky enough to experience the Holy City while working for Abercrombie and Fitch as a District Manager and it quickly became my home away from home. At the time I was living in Charlotte, and Charleston was just a short drive south. But when my boss from A&F had told me my district was being re-aligned and I’d be taking on the tiny store in North Charleston, I thought it was going to be an inconvenience traveling to and from on a weekly basis. Little did I know this would be the place I would continually be challenged professionally, grow personally and fall in love with the southern culture. Even after transitioning jobs I knew one thing remained the same, I didn’t need an excuse to take the three-hour trip south.
When Chris and I made the decision to move to Houston a few years ago, I agreed under one condition: I must make it back to visit Charleston at least once a year. He and I often talk about my dreams of getting married deep in the city’s southern charm, so I was excited to head out east for a long weekend at The Restoration Hotel a few weekends ago.
Nestled right off King Street, The Restoration Hotel is filled with chic decor and charm around every corner. Built with original Charleston brick exposed, you’ll find yourself getting lost in all the details, providing you with everything you’ll need during your stay; spacious rooms, rooftop bar and grill, and spa amenities, just to name a few.
