It’s not every day you get to see this handsome fella on the blog. And if I’m allowed to be quite honest, it takes some major convincing to talk him into making an appearance. I think the last time you saw him around here was my birthday post from last fall, remember this post here? So needless to say, when an opportunity comes up requesting my better half, I figure out a way to make it work… even if that means it requires a bribe or two! So today, I’m excited to share with you a his and her look with Born Shoes available through Dillard’s for spring, and a little bit more about our relationship! We just celebrated our four-year anniversary last month in Austin, so here’s four things you might not know about us!
But first, the looks! Spring and Summer in Houston calls for light and airy pieces. Both Chris and I’s own personal style during warmer months is all about comfort, without having to sacrifice the fashion. We try to spend as much time outdoors before the day gets too hot and humid to enjoy, so comfortable footwear is a must! I opted to add a fun pop of color with my Born Henning slingbacks in turquoise, and Chris choose to go with the comfort of the Born Andes loafer in brown. We love the intricate details of each shoe. Whether it’s the hand-crafted construction or full-grain leather stitching, the attention to detail is impeccable, without sacrificing comfort for style. You’ll continue to see us wearing our Born Footwear during the upcoming Spring and Summer months!
1. While we didn’t meet until much later in life, our college universities were only 15 miles apart. I went to High Point University to study communications, and he played soccer at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. I found myself in downtown Greensboro quite often during my college years, so I often wonder if we had ever crossed paths at some point, or if fate was waiting until the perfect moment to bring us together.
2. We can thank our previous employer for introducing us, Abercrombie & Fitch. At the time I had just been promoted to a District Manager and was visiting a friend’s store in Greensboro, where he was working to pass time while studying for the LSAT. Our encounter was brief, but I remember thinking he was super cute and “too cool for school.” It wasn’t until several years later that we went on our first date in Charlotte… I had just left my position to begin a new job opportunity and he was halfway through law school. Isn’t it crazy how timing is everything?
3. His first romantic gesture was on Valentine’s Day shortly after our first date. We were in that awkward stage of knowing that we had feelings for one another, but too soon to hang out again per the typical rules of dating. I spent that holiday working super late and remember him texting me throughout the evening. I kind of hinted at the fact that I was bummed I didn’t have plans, nor a Valentine that year, ya know, the typical girl thing to do. When I arrived home after a long day and slightly before midnight, there was a rose on my doorstep. Without even questioning, I knew it was from him, smiled and went to bed happy.
4. We moved to Houston after Chris finished law school and passed the bar. We’ve been here for almost 4 years and our little family has grown by four furry legs since then. You see a lot more of Becks and Ripken on my InstaStories than you do of me!
